BUSSEY, IA — The Twin Cedars Community School District is excited to announce that Donita Geetings has accepted the offer to serve as the next elementary principal and curriculum director.

The board and stakeholder interview teams conducted final interviews with each of the three finalists on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.  After reviewing all the feedback, it was clear that Donita was the best fit for the job.  Superintendent Scott Bridges said, “Donita clearly conveyed her passion and readiness for the job. The feedback was clear that she is the best candidate for the staff and students at Twin Cedars Elementary.”

Donita shared her personal mission of, “Never stop pursuing excellence, work hard and serve others, nurture relationships, believe in people, and make a difference.” She has a background in serving as the elementary principal for both elementary schools in the PCM School District.  She also currently serves the district as the Title I Coordinator. Her previous experience was serving as an instructional coach for Ankeny Schools.

She was thrilled to accept the position saying, “It’s an honor to serve as the Elementary Principal and Curriculum Director at Twin Cedars. It is with great enthusiasm that I embark on this journey, returning to my roots and highlighting the academic and social advantages of a close-knit community school. As we move forward collaboratively with a positive staff, supportive families, and a committed school board, we will create a nurturing and enriching elementary school experience for all our students.”

Donita and her husband Alan reside in Pella, Iowa. Alan is an owner at Medalist Manufacturing in Pella and he is actively involved at the Knoxville Raceway. Mrs. Geetings is a proud mother of three boys, Jackson, Maddox, and Eli. Their family (along with their dogs who are like family) love to boat at Lake Red Rock, spend time in Lake of the Ozarks, and attend sporting events. Family is important to Mrs. Geetings and she knows she is fortunate to have their support as she serves as an elementary principal.
