Today, the 8th Grade Careers class learned about the Stock Market. They each created a company and a product. They then tried their hand at selling shares in their companies to the other members of the class. In the first class, Tanner Anderson sold the most stock and Cicalee Roland was voted as the inventor with the best product, “Silly Socks”. In the second class, Brock Micetich sold the most shares and Dylan Keyes was voted as having the best product, “Pebble Pets”. Learning while having fun is a great blueprint for success!

Students were recently given a Library/Reading Bingo card. On the card are various activities that promote reading. Students who earn a bingo are invited to eat lunch picnic style in the library, with drinks and cookies provided for them. There are specific types of books listed on the bingo cards (Iowa Children's Choice and Goldfinch Award) that are available in the library for check out. There are also papers and a research station set up to complete definition, synonym, antonym, and Guinness World Record facts, plus sheets for designing a character and creating their own story. Some of the stories being read in library class each week also cover the boxes! Completed Bingo cards can be returned to the library and students can work on another bingo if they choose.
